A pure white tom bounded through the marshy area. A light grey tom, a brown tom, a very pale gray she-cat and another white tom with grey markings here and there followed him. Behind them was a siamese tom with a pink collar, and in the lead was a grey she-cat with a darker tail and legs.
"Mama, my legs hurt!" The pure white tom meowed.
The others nodded in agreement.
"White, stop whining about your legs." She then turned her attention to the brown tom. "Harry, you too. As well as you, Snake," She said to the Pale grey she-cat, "And you as well, Blob." She said to the white tom with grey markings. "And you, Nail!"
"Max, tell them to stop whining when they do." The siamese tom behind them all nodded.
The grey she-cat continued on her way. A few cats lined up behind her, including a ginger tabby she-cat and a dark purple she-cat.
"Lilacpetal, Blazingsky. My deputies." The grey she-cat meowed.
"Greetings, Greystar." Lilacpetal, the dark purple she-cat, meowed.
"Hi, Greystar." Blazingsky, the ginger she-cat, meowed back.
All the cats preceded onto a thunderpath. Greystar walked across it while the others waited with fear in their eyes.
"GREYSTAR! WATCH OUT!"
"MOM! JUMP!"
Lilacpetal and Snake yowled those words, and a monster hurdled towards Greystar.
Then it hit her.
It flew away, leaving Greystar there to die.
Snake, White, Blob, Harry, and Nail raced up to their mother. Lilacpetal and Blazingsky followed, mourning the death of their leader. Max yowled grief.
Greystar then murmured her last words.
"Blazingsky will be the new leader."
She then fell, dead.
Blazingsky glared at her leader while Lilacpetal looked at her in distrust.
Greystar has fallen.
Blazingsky has risen.
chapter 1.
Greykit was nudged awake by her mother, Cardinalfur. Her father, Lotuspetal, followed beside her. Peachkit was squirming with his parents. Greykit groaned.
"Mama, can I go out?" She asked.
"Sure." Her mother said.
She bounded out of the nursery, fur on-end with happiness.
Then she fell.
Into mud.
By several trouble-making kits.
Their names were Arrowkit, Infernokit, Midnightkit, Nightkit, Yarrowkit, Cowkit, and Torrentkit.
Torrentkit, who was a tom, didn't like being in the group.
And it was obvious.
Torrentkit was also deaf.
And it was obvious.
Then, Tranquilstar, RippleClan's leader, pounced onto highrock.
"Let all cats eld enough to catch their own prey gather beneath Sandstone for a clan meeting!"
All the cats gathered, and Greykit was nudged to the front, as well as a sleeping Peachkit. Peachkit quickly woke up and sat up.
"Cats of RippleClan, we are gathered here to make 3 new apprentices."
Arrowkit, Infernokit and Cowkit rose, obviously waiting to have their ceremony.
But, instead, Tranquilstar headed towards Torrentkit, Greykit and Peachkit.
"Torrentkit, from this moment on you will be known as Torrentpaw. Your mentor will be Lotuspetal."
Torrentpaw nodded and touched noses with Lotuspetal.
"Greykit, from this moment on you will be known as Greypaw. Your mentor will be Tangledburr."
Greypaw nodded and touched noses with Tangledburr.
"Peachkit, from this moment on you will be Peachpaw. Your mentor will be Addersnap."
Peachpaw nodded and touched noses with Addersnap.
"This meeting is over!" Tranquilstar snapped.
The cats scattered back to their original places and Tangledburr pointed to the entrance with his tail. Greypaw nodded.
